🎵 Debussy’s “Moonlight”
Below are the ways I’ve referenced from the Steam Community articles and IGN, with screenshots so you can try them out for yourself and get started if you’ve never done this before.
💕 How to skip the intro
Below I’ll explain how you can set up Steam to allow you to enter some code into the game’s launch options that will skip the intro.
💡 How to set it up on Steam
1️⃣ Click “The Evil Within > Properties” in Steam.
2️⃣ In the General tab of the properties that comes up, at the very bottom, under Launch Options, drag the bolded text below and copy and paste it into the blank.
+ com_skipIntroVideo 1 + com_allowconsole 1
3️⃣ After entering the above, launching the game will skip the intro and launch the console where you can enter the cheat key inside the game.
🚨 it won’t work on Epic
You can add code to Launch Options, but it won’t skip the Intro. The console doesn’t launch either.
🛠️ How to set Display Resolution
The first time you run the game, it should look like this.
The issues below are common to games developed by Bethesda, as they’ve been confirmed in a few Bethesda games I’ve checked.
This game and Starfield are the only games I’ve confirmed that don’t change resolution. There is an option to change the resolution, but it doesn’t change. Fortunately, starfield can be set to fullscreen.
And when I contact support and ask them why all other games resize but yours doesn’t, they tell me to reinstall my graphics driver, steam, and even windows, which doesn’t fix anything.
But if you use the troubleshoot compatibility feature in windows, it will change the resolution at least in windowed mode, if not fullscreen.
Still not full screen, but after running Windows Compatibility Check, the resolution changes correctly in windowed mode, as shown below.
🛠️ How to check Troubleshooting compatibility on Windows 10 or later
1️⃣ Find the folder where the game is installed
✅ On Steam
Click “The Evil Within > Manage > Browse local files”
✅ On Epic
The folder where Epic is installed by default is “C:\Program Files\Epic Games\”, but if you’ve installed it somewhere you want, select the “TheEvilWithin” folder in the explorer under the location of that folder.
In the screenshot below, the left side is my Epic Games installation and the right side is the folder for The Evil Within installed on Steam.
2️⃣ Troubleshoot compatibility on Windows
Select the game executable that looks like “EvilWithin.exe” or “EvilWithin”, right-click on it, click “Show more options” in the pop-up menu that appears, and then click “Troubleshoot compatibility” in the pop-up menu that appears.
You can then make your selections for each of the questions as shown in the screenshot below, close the window, launch the game, and you should see the resolution change as soon as you change the windowed mode.
🪛 Cheat: Run the console
Pressing the “Insert” key on the keyboard will slide the console screen out from the top, pressing the “Insert” key once again will close it.
This key is located just above the “Del” key on the keyboard, as shown in the photo below.
It is recommended to enter the cheat key while paused by pressing the “Esc” key. A window with some small text will slide out, as shown in the screenshot below.
😈 God Mode
Type “god” in the console window and press ENTER to activate it, which will appear “godmode ON”.
♾️ Infinite Ammo
Type “g_infiniteammo 1” and press ENTER to enter the infinite bullet state.
Type “g_infiniteammo 0” and press ENTER to turn it off.
If you just type “g_infiniteammo” and press ENTER, it will check the status.
🎵 Debussy’s “Moonlight (Clair De Lune)”
The music that plays in front of the mirror in The Evil Within.
