In “Destroy the Transport Helicopter,” this guide introduces strategies for tackling the battle log featuring the 4-legged Heavy MT located at the boss battle site in the “Illegal Entry” mission. It covers two approaches: one involves taking down the HMT leisurely from a safe position, and the other involves quickly engaging it in close combat. Additionally, the guide provides tips for achieving an S-rank in this mission.

🎖️AC6: Battle Log for 『Destroy the Transport Helicopters』 + S Rank walkthrough

🦾Armored Core 6: “Fires of Rubicon,” Chapter 1
Battle Log for “Destroy the Transport Helicopters”

🚧My Chosen AC Combination

I tackled the strategy using the weapons and unit shown in the screenshot below. To quickly deal with enemies in front, I chose the BML-G1/P31DUO-02. Once you become familiar with this unit, achieving an S-rank with this setup is possible.

🎯S-Rank Strategy Armament Setup

To quickly handle the HMT, I equipped the Needle Launcher obtained after the final mission in Chapter 3, “Destroy the Ice Worm,” on both shoulders. Although the load capacity is lower, I used arms with high shooting capabilities. Many players opt for a gatling gun in such situations, but when using a high-capacity generator, the VP-66LH is favored for its good accuracy and rapid firing when alternately fired.

For those familiar with the game, achieving an S-rank is possible with the unit described above.

Unit chosen for S-Rank strategy

💥Damage Received by Enemies for Each Weapon

From left to right in the screenshot: the rifle deals 177 damage, the dual shoulder missiles deal 712 damage, and the blade deals 1,114 damage. In this strategy, the blade can attack twice in succession, delivering a total damage of 2,228. The rifle deals 177 damage only in close combat; for long-range attacks, it will ricochet off.

Damage values for each weapon when attacking the four-legged Heavy MT

The laser handgun (222) is also effective in close combat, but it will ricochet if used at medium range or further. When attacking Light MTs with weak armor, it deals 285 damage, and when fired from both hands, it deals 580 damage. However, when fired alternately, it is effective in increasing ACS load through sustained damage.

Attacking the Heavy MT with a laser handgun

The needle launcher is effective even at medium range, but its accuracy and damage decrease. It is most effective in close combat when the target does not evade, as a direct hit applies an ACS load.

When fired simultaneously at close range, it can inflict 2,168 damage. The first attack does not cause a load, but subsequent attacks do. Depending on the situation, alternating shots or continuously applying pressure with a laser handgun can effectively subdue the target.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you clear a mission repeatedly, the AI tends to adapt to your attack patterns and gradually change its own attack patterns. For example, initially, the HMT may make large jumping movements when you attack with a blade. However, after multiple repeated clears, it may start to perform blade-swinging attacks during close-quarters combat, as shown below.

🏹Safe Strategy

※ The numbers below indicate the designated sequence in the mission strategy. Since the battle log content is included in the overall strategy guide for this mission, this description will be written first, and the complete guide will be posted later.

Position 8 is where you lure the HMT, and after going up to position 9, you can boost to position 10. Various other gameplay screenshots are included in the strategy below.

In terms of location, the HMT cannot reach position 9, so it is safe, but because you have to hover in the air to attack from position 9, it’s better to move to position 10, where you can comfortably attack while looking down.

Safe Position for Tackling the Battle Log

After provoking the HMT with a missile attack, you will suppress it from a safe position.

When it’s facing you and two yellow lights turn on, it indicates that a direct hit is coming. Use the SHIFT key along with the left or right arrow key to perform a quick boost and evade.

Once you climb up to the location below, you’ll see from that spot that the current state involves launching direct-hit missiles. Simply walking backward lightly will allow you to evade them; staying in place will result in being hit.

If it doesn’t come this way quickly and approaches slowly, fire a shot with the rifle and observe its movement. Continue firing a shot as it moves, and it will slowly shift to the right or left until it eventually reaches about where the screenshot shows below.

Then, use an upward boost to move to position 10.

Once you’re up there, if you find yourself in this position at the middle or right end of the ledge, fire the left shoulder missile once. Move close to the wall on the left side of the ledge, and it will bring you to a good spot for firing as shown below.

If aiming is difficult, press the middle mouse button to lock on.

Here, fire missiles to the right and left. You can keep firing in this state until the HMT is defeated, which should be enough to subdue it. The HMT, possibly due to its weight, will attempt to climb but won’t reach position 9.

If it occasionally seems like it’s moving outward, switch the firing order to left, then right, and it will move back inward.

Keep firing like this, and when you see the line “This can’t be… Who… Who ARE you?!”, it means you’ve subdued it. Whether you confront it head-on or take it down safely like this, the line remains the same! 😁😁

Defeat from a Safe Position

⚔️Close Combat

As before, when you hear the “beep beep” warning sound like in the bottom left screenshot, use a quick boost to evade. If you’re late, you’ll take damage as shown in the bottom right screenshot.

HMT’s Shell Attack

By periodically attacking with missiles and rifle, it will pull out its blade and jump for a slashing attack, as shown in the bottom right.

The moment the HMT draws its blade while you are periodically attacking with missiles

As it jumps, quickly boost to the side to evade.

When it slashes down and is briefly vulnerable, strike it twice in succession with your blade.

Attack with your blade when it is briefly stunned.

You can use the surrounding buildings as cover. If you want to create some distance during close combat, make use of nearby buildings.

Using Surrounding Buildings as Cover

Keep attacking periodically with missiles and rifle, and take advantage of moments when the HMT is under load or preparing a blade attack while maintaining a certain distance for an advantage.

Maintain a certain distance while attacking with missiles and rifle.

If you get too close, as shown below, it will also perform a direct thrusting blade attack.

By repeating the attacks mentioned above, you can eventually defeat it with missile or rifle attacks, or finish it off with the blade as shown below.

🎯S-Rank Strategy

Even after destroying the target and the battle log HMT within 2 minutes, I only achieved an A-rank. However, after taking down all 15 Light MTs around the target, I achieved an S-rank. You can ignore the Generic Weaponry and turrets.

🔷Around the First Target

As you approach with an assault boost, quickly take out the 3 Light MTs with missiles or a laser handgun.

If you have a blade equipped, it’s best to attack the target with the blade for a quick takedown. If you’re equipped with a laser handgun, use the handgun to rapidly subdue the target at the beginning.

💠Around the Second Target

To quickly take out the Light MT with a shield in the middle of the turrets, you should destroy the shield with a blade or needle launcher before attacking.

There is one unit behind each piece of cover. You can ignore the general-purpose weapons and turrets.

After destroying the second target, on your way to the final targets and the location with the battle log, make sure to take down the two missile-launching Light MTs.

💠Around 4 Targets and Battle Log

There are a total of 5 Light MTs at the location with the battle log. Taking them out in advance will help avoid confusion when you attack the battle log HMT.

When attacking the HMT with the needle launcher, I recommend using the laser to handle the 3 surrounding Light MTs while advancing with an assault boost. Then, use both needle launchers simultaneously for a direct attack right in front of the Heavy MT. The armor of your unit is strong enough that the attacks received during the approach won’t be an issue.

Continue to circle around the HMT and attack consistently. As soon as the needle launcher is reloaded, fire immediately. After defeating this, quickly take out the four surrounding targets within 2 minutes to achieve an S-rank.

When attacking the targets, to prevent the laser handgun from overheating, alternate between using the needle launcher to take out one target and then firing with the laser. This method will allow you to eliminate targets quickly.
