Hereās a quick overview of each slayerās traits, some things to watch out for early in the game, and a tutorial. In future posts, Iāll be posting walkthroughs for all quests, including story, side quests, lockboxes, and HAUS.
ā» Dead Island 2 has a reputation for being the ultimate in gore and horror. If you donāt want to see that, please, donāt read this article.
In this walkthrough, I played as Jacob, Ryan, and Bruno.
Below are my favorite slayers, listed in order of play.
I havenāt played as Carla, but Amy and Dani in the HAUS expansion, when attacked by mutants and other things, their damage drops, so Iāve been playing as Jacob, Ryan, and Bruno lately. This is my playstyle, so it may be different for you.
Somehow, I feel like Amy, Carla, and Dani are lacking something, and maybe itās because Iām a guy.
If I missed anything, Iāll update later.

šÆ Survival Tip: Zombies for Practice
When there are more than three attacking zombies and youāre not in a narrow passageway, itās advantageous to attack with moderate dodging, as theyāll come from all directions.
When using melee weapons to attack Samblers or Walkers, as is the case now, it is advantageous to alternate between head and leg attacks.
This game is a basic tutorial, so you can just follow the tutorial. However, itās hard to see at first because of the red light above, so itās easy to play if youāre not in a hurry.
ā© How to skip cutscenes
Cutscenes can be skipped by holding down the spacebar.
You will have no problem playing the game without watching the cutscenes, as the objective of the game is shown for the most part, so if you find them annoying, skip them.
There is only one place where skipping a cutscene will cause problems, and itās right before the boss fight with āBecki the Brideā in the Halperin Hotel. If you can defeat the āCrusherā without much help, feel free to skip it. Itās only an issue if youāre picking up fuel, caustics, etc. from the area. If you skip it, youāll lose everything you brought with you.
šÆ Survival Tip: Loot lots of weapons, preferably strong ones~
If youāre new to the game, leaving dropped weapons in place can cause you to struggle early on.
Also, when dropping a wheel, which is a weapon throwing exercise, donāt use a strong weapon, use something you can throw away, like the weakest Burnt Timber! You can also retrieve dropped weapons.
Since this is a game about survival, youāll need to collect everything you can, whether itās salvaging weapons to disassemble later or selling them to merchants to raise money.
This is fine until you get to Belair or the Halperin Hotel, but after that you will have a hard time getting weapons, materials, money, or upgrading your weapons if you donāt level up your weapons enough.
The game requires you to travel to and from an area many times, and different quests will change the places you can go and the items you can get. Therefore, itās helpful to complete as many side quests and loot (lockboxes) as possible to get the weapons, blueprints, materials, etc. you need.
Itās also important to acquire and dispose of weapons that you can get repeatedly from time to time.
In the next post, Iāll begin a series of walkthroughs of Dead Island 2ās story, each quest, and looting.
